Does SHOTBREAK use AI APIs or cloud processing? +
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your scripts never leave your computer. There are no API calls, no cloud servers, no external processing. After the page loads, you could disconnect from the internet and it would still work.
What is Reverse Mode? +
Reverse Mode takes rough scene descriptions, bullet points, or AI video prompts and formats them into a properly structured Hollywood screenplay — complete with INT/EXT scene headings, character names, action lines, parentheticals, and dialogue blocks. It's the opposite of a shot breakdown.
What file formats can I upload? +
SHOTBREAK reads .docx (Word), .txt (plain text), .fdx (Final Draft), and .fountain format files. You can also paste text directly. For .docx files, we use JSZip to read the document XML directly in your browser.
How does the EDL export work with DaVinci Resolve? +
SHOTBREAK exports CMX 3600 format EDLs with proper timecodes at 24fps. Each shot becomes an event on your timeline. If your script exceeds 999 shots (the EDL format limit), it auto-splits into multiple files. Import via File → Import → Timeline in DaVinci Resolve.
What are AI Video Prompts? +
Each shot description gets reformatted as an optimized prompt for AI video generators like Google Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Runway Gen-4.5, or Seedance. All your cinematography settings (lens, grain, style, etc.) are baked into each prompt. Generate the clips, then import into DaVinci Resolve via the EDL.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Log into the app and click your avatar → Account → Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe Customer Portal where you can cancel, change plans, or update payment info. No hoops, no retention calls — cancel anytime with one click.
